Extra Curricular Activities
Scoil Charthaigh Naofa recognises the contribution made to children's education through extra-curricular activities. Some of our extra-curricular activities include hurling, camogie, gaelic football, girl's football, tag rugby, basketball, school choir, school concerts, drama, Irish dancing, musical instruments, athletics, table quizzes, and others. This is not a fully comprehensive list as extra-curricular activities come up which teachers feel will contribute to the overall development of the children of the school.
We are a Green Flag School and engage fully in the Green Schools programme.

School Calendar
The school calendar for any school year is formulated by the principal in the month of June previous to the beginning of that academic school year e.g. calendar for school year 2007-2008 is formulated in June 2007. This calendar is circulated to parents in June before the school year starts.

Visitors
All visitors to the school must sign in at the office and wear a badge which identifies them as a visitor to the school. Any visitor who enters the school premises without following this procedure will be asked to leave. No visitors will be allowed access to the school after 2.00 pm. Only in cases of emergency will parents be allowed access to the school between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm without prior appointment. All sales representatives must make an appointment before gaining access to the school. The principal is not available without making a prior appointment.

Arrival and Dismissal of Pupils
Tuition starts at 9.20am. An adult will be supervising in the school gymnasium from 9.10am to allow children to be dropped in safety to school. Children must line up in the gym when waiting for the start of school and at 9.20am will be escorted to their class by their class teacher. The electronic bell will indicate 9.10 am and this is the signal for parents to allow their children into the gymnasium. In the evening the classes will again be assembled in the school gym and escorted to the gates. We ask that parents wait until the children have been dismissed to avoid confusion. The children for the bus will be escorted to the bus by a member of staff usually the principal. There is no supervision provided after 3.00 pm and parents are expected to arrive on time to collect their children.
Children attending Mochuda Preschool are taken into the school by staff between 9.25 am and 9.30 am. We ask that parents supervise their children in their own vehicles until the 9.10 sounder rings and that the entrance to the school is kept clear to facilitate getting the children from Mochuda into school safely and easily.
Infant classes will be escorted to the main entrance by their teacher for dismissal at 2.00 pm. We ask that parents remain outside the main entrance as teachers need space to ensure that all children go home with the appropriate adult.

Mobile Phones
Children are not allowed to bring their mobile phones to school. Should a child need to contact home during the school day they will be allowed to use the school phone. Mobile phones are also not allowed on school trips.

Books
We operate a school book lease scheme here and all text books are available through it. Workbooks and textbooks which the children write upon should be bought by the parents of the child. Booklists are sent out in June for the following academic school year starting in September with your child's school report.

Uniform
The school uniform is fully endorsed by the Parent's Association and has been decided upon by the Parents. The uniform is a navy v-neck jumper with the school crest, light blue polo shirt, and grey trousers and runners. Children wear slippers in class and a navy track suit for PE. The crest can be embroidered at most embroidery services in Tullamore and Mucklagh. No particular embroidery company is endorsed by the school.
